| Göteborg | Prices Posted: Thu December 20, 2007 03:59 AM UTC
Hey guys, I'm heading to Göteborg in late January with 3 friends. All I hear about is how expensive everything is.
I'm from Dublin, which is hardly the cheapest place in the world. Will I notice a dent in my wallet or am I already used to it? For instance, how much is a pint/330ml or a meal? Also, if anyone can suggest anything that we must do, I am open to offers. Thanks a lot guys |

I was in Gothenburg earlier this month. A pint will cost you about SEK 50, i.e. just over five euros. I can recommend the Dubliner on the city's main shopping street (Avenyn): it is popular, lively and serves generous helpings of standard pub grub.

Mostly in Swedish, but this list (with links) of pubs and restaurants can be useful:

alcohol is the main difference I reckon. food in supermarkets is generally about the same price as UK (probably a bit cheaper than London), I guess Eire is pretty similar. I think transport can also be a bit more expensive. taking the train to stockholm would probably cost more than getting ryanair back to dublin and then on to "stockholm". when I was last in sweden a few years ago house prices were MUCH less than UK.. I nearly moved there!
