| Valparaíso | Airport (SCL) to cruiseport in Valparaiso Posted: Wed December 19, 2007 03:28 AM UTC
I'm looking for the best way to transfer between the Santiago airport and the cruiseport in Valparaiso. Cruiseship transfer service is not an option. I'm on a budget, so a taxi the whole way is not an option, either. Anyone with recent experience out there? From the postings, it seems that the option most often mentioned is to take a bus to Pajaritos, then transfer to another bus to Valparaiso, then take a cab to the cruiseport. Has anyone done this? What did it cost you (including the cab). How long did it take you? (I will be able to carry all my bags). Thanks in advance!

you'll cant get outside the airport and you'll find a lot of people offering services from airport to Valapariso/Viña del Mar (dos not matter where, it could be an hotel or cruiseport). I don't remember the cost (also I did not paid), I remember it's been worth as we were four, a van only for us and straight to the hotel.
Sure, you can take the bus tranfer (two buses) to go to Valparaiso... there are fews rips during the day.. no problems for your bags.

Thanks for responding. At least, I know there are options once I get to the airport.

I recently went to Valparaiso for a cruise and really agonized over how to get there from the Santiago airport. DON'T WORRY, IT'S REAL EASY, even if you have lots of luggage, don't speak Spanish, and don't know where the #$@$ you're going.
1). Get off airplane in Santiago, get luggage, proceed to airport exit. 2). As you head toward the exit you will pass a little transportation kiosk (you can't miss it) where you will be greeted by a helpful person who will sell you a CentroPueto minivan ticket to Pujaritos (spelling?). They are used to tourists and speak english. Get a ticket for about 5 bucks. The vans are right out front of the terminal and are well marked. Chances are you will share a ride with other tourists. The driver will put your luggage in the back. 3). After about a 10 minute ride in the van, which should be just enough time for that French student passenger to give you attitude, you will arrive at the Pujaritos Metro station. 4). Walk (80 feet) through the little station to the bus platform on the other side. Go to the Tur-Bus window, buy a ticket, and get on the bus for Valparaiso. They leave often so you won't have much of a wait. DO NOT get on the Vina Del Mar bus, get on the Valparaiso bus. The professional attendant will safely put your luggage into the bus storage compartment on the side of the bus. They are very professional so don't worry. This isn't Greyhound in the States where you have to step over that urine soaked wino to get on the bus. It isn't like that. 5). After a pleasant 2 hour bus ride, get off the bus, get your luggage, walk out of the bus station, grab one of the waiting taxis for the port. It should cost about 5 bucks. Valparaiso is small, so the port isn't that far away. Total trip cost is about 20 bucks. TRUST ME, IT'S PAINLESS!! Don't pay $120 for a tax or the Cruise Line's rip-off transfer pricing. Enjoy your trip !!!!
