Dear all,
Hi. I have to go Tarragona and I booked the flight ticket to Barcelona already. It would be nice, if you tell me how to go to tarragona from Barcelona airport (more detail, please). I tried to check in some website but they are Spainish language. So I can not understand so much.

because if you are using a low cost company some say Barcelona but it is not the main airport of Barcelona..soo...

From Bcn airport you need to go Sants Central station. There are trains every half an hour. From the same station you have many frecuencies to Tarragona, in fact most southbound trains (Valencia, Murcia, etc) stop there .

If you actually fly into Barcelona, you can take the rail directly from the airport. Unless they are doing construction, the rail will stop on track 5 of BCN-Sants station and from there the outbound to Tarragona also leaves from track 5. You can buy your ticket for the entire journey from the ticket window at the airport platform for something near ~6EUR.

If you fly into Reus, you will have to take a bus (~20km).
If you fly into Girona, you're on the far side of Barcelona and will have to get a train.

Thank you very much for every answer. I checked my flight ticket already. I will arrive to Baecelona airport. Until now, I am not sure that I understand how to go to Tarragona or not.
First, after I arrive Barcelona airport, I have to take aerobus to plaza catalunya station or sants station (is it the same place???).
Then, Take the train to Tarragona around 1.30 hour.
If I misunderstood how to go there, please let me know.
But I have another question. :)
I already booked flight ticket to go back at 10.30 am in the morning at Barcelona airport also. I did mistake. So sad!!!
Do you have any suggestion how to go back to Barcelona to take plane in time?

NO, you DON'T have to take Aerbus to go to Plaza Catalunya. Plaza Catalunya is the city centre station but not the main train station.

The airport train takes you directly to SANTS CENTRAL STATION. There you buy a new ticket and get a train to Tarragona, without leaving the building.

Thank you very much for you help but I am still confused a little bit. The Barcelona airport is connected to Sants cebtral station, is not it? If it is right, I just go to train station in the same place to take train to Tarragona. And the train take time only 40 min to Tarragona. Really??

Bcn airport station - Bcn Sants Central Station - Tarragona city

The journey Bcn-Tarragona takes approx. 1 hour. No need to book. There are trains all day long.

Umm I think I am confused about how to go to Bcn Sants Central Station from Bcn airport station. As I understand, I think they are closed together.

To reiterate my point from above. The train from the airport to BCN-Sants will stop on track #5 at BCN-Sants.

Unless there is construction at the BCN-Sants (there was last time I visited), there is no need to exit the platform to the main station waiting area. The connecting train to Tarragona also leaves from track #5. If you still have doubts, just ask any other commuter to comfirm the train is for Tarragona.

You can buy the complete journey ticket from the ticket seller at the airport. If you buy a ticket at the airport to BCN-Sants, exit the train and buy an additional ticket to Tarragona, the total price is actually about ~1EUR more expensive. (The automatic vending machine at the airport does not sell to Tarragona, so use the ticket window).

Thank you for your sugestions. Now I understand how to go to Tarragona but I still have another problem. I make a mistake because I booked flight ticket to go back at Barcelona airport. The flights will depart from Barcelona airport at 10.30 in the morning. Could I go back to Barcelona airport in time?

Actually, I checked the train from Tarragona to Barcelona. The first train will depart at 5 am in the morning. I think it is so early. Do you have any suggestions to go back in time and more covernient than this???

There are are big works going on at Sants station right now beacuse the AVE fast train operations.In addition. there have been big disruptions in the past months because of this works and even some lines (incluiding the airport) have been interrupted. Now everything is (more or less) ok.

This is why I would avoid to be too specificial about platform numbers, not to cause confusion or mislead the person that is not familiar with the place. As you know, here in Spain boarding gates and platforms can sometimes change suddenly and inmediately before the estimated time.

That is the only option, unless you want to pay for a cab from Tarragona, which I pressume can be very expensive, or spend the night in Barcelona.

If you want to take it easy and don't go rushing, better take that train at 5 am than the following one at 7 am.
