My wife and I want to plan our first trip to Whistler with a few friends. I will be skiing, and she's going to check out some Yoga studios around town.

I don't know anyone who has been there before, so I don't know much.

We are looking for convenience. Meaning, we want to be walking distance to ski lifts (if not ski in / ski out), and a very close walk to restaurants and shops.

Are there different mountains and/or villages in Whistler? If so, which do we want to stay at to get the quintessential Whistler experience?

For ski-in/ski-out try the Upper Village next to the Wizard Express Chair. In the morning its a one minute walk from the condo elevator to the ski run and then you ski down to the lift . There are five places next to the bottom run . Residence Inn/Marriot, Painted Cliff/ Cedar Creek, Woodrun and The Aspens.Its a short wa;k downhill to the village , or you can take the free shuttle. There are other options but you should start with the upper village.
