Perth 6 days in perth
Posted: Sun December 16, 2007 04:08 PM UTC
We'll be in Perth 25th Dec-31st Dec. We usually just travel along and book into a motel on our way. Is this possible at this time?
We've arranged to pick our rental car at the airport on 25th Dec.at about 4 pm.
Any suggestions for our itinerary?

- I would stay 1 or 2 days in and around Perth/Fremantle;
- highly recommend a visit - 1 day - to Rottnest Island and make a tour on a rental bike;
- we visited the Pinnacles Desert with a stay in Cervantes, if you decide to stay there overnight be sure you have acommodation, because there are just a couple of motels/hotels/hostels, on you way north (or back) you also could visit the monastic town of New Norcia with some impressive buildings (and museum) in the middle of nowhere.
See for more info my Perth page.

happy travels
Jaap

I would definitely pre book hotels! Everywhere in Australia becomes booked out at Christmas time and you will be hard pressed to find accommodation on the fly.

Have a great trip!

Check out www.wotif.com, a very good hotel site. New Years will be hard to find accom & really expensive.As mentioned rottnest, Fremantle, Margaret River if u can find a place, very busy down there! Weather has been lousy, raining as I write, bring a light weight rain coat just in case.

Hi The Perth Hilton Hotel has advertisements for rooms at $120 a night, this is a premier hotel in Mill Street Perth. Google it up and contact them. Could also be known as the Parmelia Hilton. Right in the heart of the city near the Swan River.

For motels try the Golden Chain group for value and good quality motels.Very reasonable prices Again Google up their web page.

Good Luck,
Mike

Hi Doreenlim, I know my reply is late but hopefully you might get a chance to read it while you are in Perth!

Perth Airports aren't too far from Perth's CBD, where there is loads of accomodation. Fremantle or Cottosloe are great places to stay (about 20 mins south of the CBD) and they are right on the ocean.

If you manage to get to Fremantle, make sure you try out "Little Creatures" its a microbrewery on the pier of Fremantle that not only make their own fantastic beers, but also have to die for pizzas and yummy mussel dishes. There is also a market in the main street of Fremantle that operates on a Saturday and Sunday. A great restaurant in Fremantle is called Sandrinos which serves modern italian.

NOTE: Perth is a very laid back city, so laid back in fact that no shops/shopping centres outside of Fremantle and Perth CBD are open on Sundays. The CBD Mall does not start trading until 12 noon on a Sunday and late night shopping is open on a Friday night until 9pm, all other shopping centres have late night shopping on a Thursday night until 9pm.

If you are interested in other restaurants, night clubbing, bar scene check out Northbridge.
