| Cuzco | How many Daus and What to See Posted: Sat December 15, 2007 08:15 PM UTC
Hi, we are a group of friends that will be spending 2 complete days in Cuzco and another 2 Days on a trek to Machu Picchu. Do you think 2 days is enough to see Cuzco? Should we spend more time there? What should we try so see/do befor we head for Machu Picchu?
Thanks in advance, Michael |

Try to spend a couple of days in Cusco to acclimate although Machi Pichuu is actually at a lower altitude. I spent a week in Cusco and never had a dull day.

Hey there,
There are many many things to do in Cusco, lots of wonderful museums and Inca and Spanish churches and other constructions to see. You haven't mentioned what you're going to do after having gone to Machu Picchu. Will you have time to explore the Sacred Valley after? If not I would definitely recommend that too, Pisac, Calca, Chinchero, Urubamba are all lovely towns, some with ruins, others are just great to get a feel of everyday life of the inhabitants. If you can make it more for Cusco and the Valley, please do! Greetings, Ari

You are in a very touristy zone.
First day you'll be ofered to visit Korikancha, Sacsayuaman, and other places (Red fortress, and some two or three places more). In Cuzco, you are a so-called tourist-meat. There is no real Peru in Cuzco, Machu Picchu, and even in Puno (with floating islands), Nazca and some other "famous" places. What you have to do is - reconsider. And meet a real Peru. With Peruvians included. Not touristy people. Ask. Go to insignificant place, and watch what happens. A miracle of everyday Peru. Mike65

Hi, I am peruvienne and I used to recommended to stay and visit Cusco at least 5 days for a traditional tours, you will have time to spend a night in aguas calientes and spend more time in Machupicchu, for see it, it is necesarilly the train reservations in advanced and the hotel or hostal reservation too.
If you want i can recommend a bed & breakfast in Cusco, safe, quiet good located in a residential area, write to the owner rosasol5@hotmail.com
