| Praiano | Getting Around Posted: Sat December 15, 2007 02:55 PM UTC
Have decided to stay in Praiano rather than Positano during our holiday in June 2008, how is public transport in the area, we will be doing all our travelling by bus and wondered how reliable, and also how busy the buses will be. Wondered about changing to Positano which would give us the ferries as well.

The Sita bus runs between Amalfi and Sorrento stopping in among other places Praiano and Positano. Getting on the Capri ferries is probably easier in Amalfi than Positano because the bus station is right across from the dock. In Positano you have a long ( but delightful ) walk. Also in bad weather, Positano may be bypassed but Amalfi has a sheltered docking space.
An easy transfer in Amalfi can put you in beautiful Ravello, check out this lovely village.

We stayed in Praiano for 2 weeks in 2006 and are returning for 2 more in May. Praiano is delightful and public transport is easy...provided there are no strikes. Buses can fill up though before reaching Praiano...a minor inconvenience considering all the other pluses! We took the bus from Praiano to Positano and ferried to Capri one day. Very easy. Stay in Praiano...quiet, friendly, and very closer to chaotic Positano! Let me know if you want restaurant, etc. recommendations. Buon Viaggio!
