Hey anybody going to Melaka during Xmas??? ^^ Is there any Int'l Youth Hostel or Backpacker's Hostel there? Or any nice hostel/budget hotel to recommend? Thx a lot! BTW am going there from KL ^^

I've not been during Christmas but was there in October this year. I stayed in a hostel, there are several hostels. I stayed at the Travellers Lodge which is in Lonely Planet Malaysia. It is a nice clean hostel, a little out of the center but it is less than a 10 minute walk in, I'd certainly stay there again if I go back to Melaka. From speaking to people there they I believe they have a Christmas Party there - the phone number I have for them is (06 2265709) if you would prefer to speak to them to make sure. By looking on hostelworld.com & hostelbookers.com you can find more hostels - Travellers Lodge is not on them but the other hostel I have heard good things about is the Kancil Guest House though it is further out of the city. Another option that is not very expensive but has a brilliant location is the Aldy Hotel (www.aldyhotel.com.my).

Getting there is very easy from KL, just make your way to Puduraya Bus Station and get the next bus departing for there, they are very frequent and mine cost RM9 with transnational. Once at the bus station a taxi will cost approx RM15 to take you in to the center or bus 17 costs 80cents.
