| Belgrade | Belgrade to Pecs?? Posted: Thu December 13, 2007 06:37 AM UTC
I've been trying to find out about getting from Belgrade to Pecs, Hungary. It's not far on the map, but so far all my research has told me that I'll have to go all the way to Budapest, and then backtrack to Pecs. Does anyone know of a bus that might make a more direct journey?
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I have a friend that lives in Pecs...and I'd love to stop in and see her as part of my journey. Matt |

I would go by train - busses are much more expensive. Related maps:
http://www.bueker.net/trainspotting/map.php?file=m http://www.bueker.net/trainspotting/maps_serbia---montenegro.php You have two choices: - cross the border at Subotica (nothing exiting about, you know your choices) - go to Croatia and catch the Saraevo-Budapest train, it goes via Pécs (that train is not in HAFAS). The best place to catch that train is in Strizivojna-Vrpolje, it departs Strizivojna-Vrpolje towards Hungary at 12:26, arrives the border at Magyrbóly at 14:23 and will reach Pécs at 15:18 So all you need is to look, how you get to Strizivojna-Vrpolje in Croatia from Beograd well before 12:26 I see an IC train, departing Beograd at 6:20, arriving Strizivojna-Vrpolje at 10:17. That is probably the best choice. Price/ticket: a) Here is your first virtual ticket, print it out and take to the ticket counter in Beograd: http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2613/belimanie5.png Remark/1: the price will be much less, that 24.40 Euro, there is a special Serbia-Croatia discount, so most likely it will be between 12 Euro and 17 Euro. b) Here is your second ticket, buy it in Strizivojna-Vrpolje while waiting for the train from Sarajevo: http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/8594/pecsnq2.png Remark/2: the price will be much less, that 5.80 Euro, there is a special Croatia-Hungary small-border discount, so most likely it will be between less, than 3 Euro. Hence, if you are lucky, you can do it under 15 Euro and arrive at Pécs at 15:18.
