Any suggestions for something unique and exciting to do in the Adelaide area for New Years Eve? We still have not made plans ... oops. :)
Cheers, Daniele |

Set off an illegal fireworks display in your backyard. :)

Hi...Glad to hear you are loving Oz (Australia)! I would suggest some of the following for a full New Years Eve in Adelaide.
* Go out for dinner at one of the vast array of Asian restaurants in Gouger Street or attached (China Town). Most reasonable prices and excellent cuisine. * Walk down King William Street past Parliament House to the Festival Theatre and sit in the parklands (well lit) by the River Torrens. Quite often they have fireworks there on the night. * Alternatively after dining in Gouger Street, walk back to Victoria Square and catch one of the new trams to Mosely Square, Glenelg. There is always a huge gathering down by the ocean at Glenelg for New Years Eve. There are wine bars right down at the sea front or you may even choose to go ***** star and go into the Hotel on the beach right near the jetty. A walk along the beach is more than romantic and you will be able to view the fireworks all along the seascape from the southern to the northern beaches. I wish you a very Happy New Year.

For the record I was hoping my comment would get you (as an American) to say something about the unavailability of fireworks here.

LOL yep, not as easy to get them here as in Florida where there are huge warehouses full of them anyone can buy.
