hi,
i need to get from Liverpool to Manchester at 25 december pm (about 7-8pm, could be later). is it possible? i've googled for a longer while and i havn't found any connection. are there really no trains or buses at that time? where should i check?

also - how much would the taxi cost?

Travel on Christmas day is very restricted, even for big cities like Liverpool and Manchester. Forget the taxi, it will cost you an arm and a leg (approx £60-£80)

Trains and buses do not run on Christmas Day. That's the way the UK is (though there may be some limited services to/from airports).

It's a friend with a car, or a taxi or nothing, I think.

www.nationalrail.co.uk for trains and www.nationalexpress.com for coaches (the official main websites) will tell you the same thing, I'm afraid.

Best book the taxi in advance too; they will be very busy on Christmas Day (because there is no public transport!).

a taxi will cost at least double the normal price on christmas day
can you not travel on christmas eve - if you can there will be a near normal service for trains and buses up until probably late afternoon

This may be your best option if you can find somewhere to overnight in Manchester

Is there a particular reason for christmas day travel? or am i being too nosey

Is it Manchester or Manchester Airport you are travelling to? As someone else has suggested crimbo eve or boxing day should be done easy enough. Xmas day transport comes to a standstill and quite rightly too everybody should have the day to spend with there families.
A taxi to the airport will be cheaper than Manchester itself, but you are likely to pay double fare.

If you call DELTA taxis on (+44) 01519247373, they will give you a price for this journey,but I would make sure you are sitting down when you get the price, because on Christmas Day this will not be cheap by any means. As previously suggested, you would probably have to pre book this trip.

Is it Manchester City Centre you are going to or the Airport.?

Sometimes wonder about all these one time posters - i came across the site by accident and asked a few questions but have had the decency to check back and see if anything came of them and them i was hooked - or rather found a better way to idle my time away at work
