Damascus Travel by train
Posted: Mon December 10, 2007 01:40 PM UTC
Hello,
We are planning to visit Damascus in January. While we will be there we also would like to visit Aleppo as well. Our travel plan is visiting Damascus first and go to Aleppo by train and go back to our country (Turkey) by train also. We would like to know if there are any train services between Damascus and Aleppo. If there is a train between Damascus and Aleppo we will schedule our travel with that option. Could anyone reply my question please? Thank you very much in advance. Zuhal.

Merhaba Zuhal,

There is a service even from Haydarpasha to Haleb, once a week. Not sure, where you do live.
CFS completely re-done their web site, unfortunately I cannot read Arabic - so just the link:

http://cfssyria.org/CFS/

The schedule (domestic):

http://www.cfssyria.org/en/national_trips.htm

International:

http://www.cfssyria.org/en/inter_trips.htm

On TCDD (regarding international trains):

Questions:

- Is the service to Istanbul always using the Pars-refurbished ex-DDR sleepers?
- There were reports, the Syrian sleepers between Haleb/Aleppo and Van on the service to Tehran are not refurbished yet. Do you know any details, pictures, etc.?

Thanks
