Grimsby what is it with grimsby?
Posted: Sun December 9, 2007 08:24 PM UTC
there are 78 vt members from there and none of them have botherd to write a tip about their hometown.

only three other members have bothered to write tips about grimsby and most of the tips are fairly negative.

i actually liked the place when i was there in 1995 and i might just go back there so i can take some photos and write some tips about an english town that deserves better.

wanna join me to grimsby?

You must have caught Grimsby on a good day in 95 if you liked the place. It's one of the most depressing towns i have ever been to & thankfully because of it's location you do not have to drive through it to get anywhere else. Doubt anyone will want to join you but best of luck.

Well I will stick up for Grimsby (and Cleethorpes). I would say these two towns are not Englands finest but believe me they are not the worst. In fact there are some very good housing areas to the south of the town and Freshney Place shopping centre is a good place for shopping. There is not a lot to see but the views of shipping entering and leaving the Humber are very good. We took our friends from Holland to the National Fshing Museum and they thought it was very good which it is. It is also home to my favourite English accent - its where the north meets the south and it is a pleasant accent. Its the usual thing - if Grimsby /Cleethorpes was called something that sounded much better and was in the south no one would give it any thought. Its just lets make fun of the fact it has Grim in it and its in the north - for real grim try some very unfriendly southern towns- the kind of 1960s new towns that border London.

Being a Yorkshire lad, the problem I find with Grimsby is that it is stuck in some kind of a time warp.
When the fishing fleets used Grimsby, it was an interesting town to visit, seeing all the boats in the harbour was brill.
However those days are long gone, but Grimsby has not moved on.
It is almost like the town is waiting for the boats to return, sad to say, they never will. The loss of the fishing industry has taken the heart out of the town.
Not being a particularly pretty town, Grimsby should try to improve its image to attract the tourists.
