whats the best way to get to the main bus stattion from the GRU airport in Sao Paulo Brasil ? is there a metro or a local shuttle? how far is it from the airport? etc.. any info is appreciated!

You can take the airport service bus. they have a store at GRU airport and one of the routes is to Tiete bus station. Ticket is R$ 28,05. Their web site (portuguese) is this one http://www.airportbusservice.com.br .
