Rimini I am interesting in Rimini
Posted: Tue August 3, 2004 07:38 AM UTC
I like Italy very much and therefore I would like to visit some places together with my friends. We have chosen Rimini and places around it and we would appreciate any information which could help me to plan our trip to Rimini next year (in july - august - two weeks). I would like to receive advaices where to stay and what to see and any other helpful hints, for example prices etc.
Thanks! Ieva

Never been to Rimini, but you could try Ravenna, about 40 minutes drive northwards up the coast... I have a few photos on my page, but other people have covered it better than me.

Detailed information about Rimini can be found in the official website of Rimini Tourist Board: www.riminiturismo.it
It is also in English, French and German.
If you are interested in visiting places, there are many possibilities for excursions ner Rimini, most of them to medieval villages and castles.
July and August are peak season, so the beaches (but also restaurants, bars, discos etc) will be overcrowded.
The lasy time I was there was in June, and it was already too crowded for my taste, but I know that in July and August it is worse.

Hello!

Right, July and August is the peak season, so you'll find many many people there.
But Rimini is more famous for nightlife than for being a city to visit in italy... you'll find lot of clubs, discos,...
If you like that great, Rimini is your place; but if you want see great cities (or nice sea) in italy... well, you should go somewhere else...

Ciao, Marco

Rimini is definitly a very beautiful city, it's definitly much more than the party discos it is popular for.
July and august are high season in all italy, so almost everywhere will be crowded.
Rimini is also a great choice for the possible excursions: Bologna, Ferrara, Gradara, Ravenna just to mention some.
I also must agree though with the ones who said the seaside is not the best, infact it's crowded, full of activites, very developed, but definitly not as scenic as Sardinia, Calabria or Sicily.

The best thing about Rimini, especially if you are young and with a small budget, is that you can find good accomodation at the lowest prices in Italy.
If you want to visit places of interest (art, history) the cities you can visit on daily trips are Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna, Urbino. Even Venice, if you are willing to get up early in the morning, because it takes over 3 hours to get there by train.
By the way, many hotels in Rimini are meant for people who go there for the beach, so they offer full-board accommodation. If you go visiting, or anyway prefer to have your meals out, you should specify this.

if you go to sardinia try the SW coast (look at giampiero6 calasetta page for a hint) and avoid north east (costa smeralda) wich is as crowded as rimini but some ten times more expensive (the sea side is better though). Wanting to go for seaside and tours, I bet sicily is definitely the best place: great beaches, fantastic food and lot to see around, from volcano to greek temples and theatre, from baroque to fascinating islands...

Rimini is the Italian Capital of the fun and the nightlife!
I lived there for 8 years and I consider it as my second home town!
The city has a perfect organization for tourists:
Any kind and price of accomodation, restaurants, pubs, clubs... the beach is really cared by the local community, even if the water is not the best we have in Italy!
There are a lot of web sites about Rimini: you just have to search for the word on a common engine search and you'll find a lot of information!
It's also a great opportunity to improve your italian: people are very hosting and nice to the foreigners!
If you look for a specific area, try to go between Marina Centro and Mare Bello (they are two areas along the beach where a lot of facilities are available).
If you need more help, don't hesitate to write me!
Follow the wind!
