Albufeira Travel Forum

Hey,

Sx mates and i (17/18) are going out to Albufeira June/July 08 and just wondered if anyone had like some general insight into the area, if there is any surfing nearby? and aparently there's a karting track somewhere nearby? any answers would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
There's lots of surfing all along the Algarve but particularly around Lagos- you can probably get a bus from Albufeira to there. There's a karting track in Almancil which is about 20 minutes away but I'm not sure about in Albufeira itself. When you get there you'll find lots of agencies offering different trips and sports so you should be able to get most places and try most things. I saw a website the other day called Portugal sport and adventure or something like that that had lots of information on about this sort of thing maybe google it.

Albufeira wonderfull city to stay , algarve´s heart , no surf around but plenty of watter sports on the beaches,if you need transfers from faro in a minibus for the lot of you use algarvetransfersdirect.com , affordable and reliable transfer company or faroairporttaxis.net , just do not use paradise tours you just get ripped off.

Just to confirm that the nearest kart track is at Almancil. It has a website at

To get any surfing you will need to go to the far west around Sagres and Lagos or even the west coast beaches - the sea here is very quiet in summer! That though is around an hours drive or more away, so unless you have a car or can hire a mini-van you won't be in much luck. There are buses Albufeira - Lagos but surfboards hardly welcome!

Do a Google search on "Algarve Surf" and you will pull up an number of websites that might help.

Other than that, with over 200 bars to choose from and wide sandy beaches you won't have much trouble finding things to do. And it will be hot!
