Aruba 5 hrs only in Aruba

Our cruise ship will be in port from 7 am to 1 pm. Is it possible to get a taxi to a beach for a few hours and return on time. Are there any other things we can do (besides shopping) for this short duration?

Aruba is really nice.!

Right out side the port you can ask to the taxi driver to bring you to the beach at the Risorts Hotelīs. Meabe you will have to pay about 10 USD for the taxi. (Itīs about 10 min ride and the beach is just beautifull)

The best time to enjoy that beach is in the morning. There is not many people and is quite beautifull place with all the big resorts arroud.

Enjoy your short stay there.!

We also did a port stop there on a cruise and had no problem finding a taxi just outside the port gate to take us to the beach. Except for a few locations on the far side of the island you should have no problem visiting for a few hours and getting back.

The ship will probably offer a ship tour that will take you to the beach and bring you back. It will cost more than doing it yourself, but at least you know they will get you back on time and not sail without you.

I live in Aruba. My advice is to ask to be taken to Eagle Beach - it is very wide, white unspoiled sand, and crystal clear water. You should take something to sit on if possible, and an umbrella. There are a few palapas, but not many. There are a few restaurants across the street within walking distance. If you want to go snorkeling, ask to be taken further up the coast to the Malmok area - terrific snorkeling right off the beach. No need to go on a tour.

I second the motion for Eagle Beach. However I believe that most of the tents, "umbrellas", and beach chairs are for resort owners/guests only, so the suggestion to bring your own chairs, blankets, and towels probably does apply -- assuming you can get them on the ship or buy them on the way to the beach.
