Hi. I will be going to Kunming in Dec for a overseas community project in a village in Yunnan. How is life in the villages of Yunnan? What are the things I will need to take note of? Packing list?

Erm really really impossible to judge without more information. Eg are you going to be in Xishuangbanna area, around Lijiang, or up north in Zhongdian area?!

For the most part none of the houses in kunming/yunnan have heating system. It's not so bad if you have a modern home, but even in a nice aprt. it can get chilly.
