1)Does anyone have information if anyone/any agency in Yogyakarta organises tours from Yogyakarta to Mt Bromo (Tosari side) and then back to Solo within 2 days?
2) Any ideas on the approximate cost?

My wife and I will be interested in making such a trip, if available. Pointers towards the companies/agencies would be much appreciated.

hi, me and hubby is also planning to do similar tour from jogja, but found that land travel takes about 10 hours one way. so we are planning to fly into surabaya by Lion Air. You can identify a hotel you are staying at Bromo, contact them and ask hotel to pick you up from train/airport . all hotel can organises tour up mt bromo. this should cost less.for us, after bromo we will leave from surabaya.

We did consider flying out from Surabaya after visiting Mount Bromo but the flight cost from Surabaya was 3.5 times more if compared to flying out from Solo after our planned travel period. I assume that the 10 hour drive you mentioned includes going all the way to Cemoro Lawang (on the northeast ledge)near Mount Bromo. We plan to go only to Tosari (on the northwest ledge) instead, which is not as far as Cemoro Lawang and view the sunrise from Mount Penanjakan. Both places (Cemoro Lawang/Tosari) will allow the exploration of Mount Bromo surrounding areas.

Hi, not quite sure but for 350 km from jogja to bromo cottages..agent says it will be about 8-10 hours (by road) so i have given you the max. Another forum person Pamela have suggested taking the train, and it is about 5 hours only for about IDR100,000 one way. Train ends in Surabaya, from here you need to find your own way out to Mt Bromo area. I have checked their web, train look decent and clean. Bromo cottages is in Tosari. Sorry, I don't know where you are flying off to but we are leaving Surabaya for Kuala Lumpur. Rough guide 3d/2n trip from Yogya to Mt Bromo and back to Yogya not including hotel is usd150 per pax. I'm actually flying back to Kuala Lumpur from Solo. My departure date from Indonesia is 19/5/2008. It's currently RM36 from Solo and RM 169.99 from Surabaya, both by Air Asia. I'm getting quotes of a Yogyakarta-Bromo-Yogyakarta tour for IDR300,000 (or RM107.30) as at May 2007. Only snag is it requires 4 persons to go.

yeah, my quote is pricey and in usd because it is only two of us. they require four if you want it at about rm100 ish. what is included in this price? can you tell me which tour operator you liaised with? by the way where do you plan to stay in bromo? i am at a lost whether to choose Bromo Cottage or Lava View Lodge, any other suggestion?

Quotation is actually from the pricing of the tour list obtained from a guest house in Yogyakarta. I have no idea which tour agency it is at this point in time. The quotation for USD$150 (RM498.50) per person is still pricey even if you are agreeable. Assuming the prices are are paid for 4 persons but only 2 are actually travelling, it would only come up to (IDR300,000 X 4) = IDR1,200,000 (RM429.7) for both!. Undecided where to stay around Mount Bromo but either place should be ok. Won't be spending much time in the hotel anyway, just for a few hours sleep, a hot shower and breakfast.

the quote that you have, what is included? does it include hotel stay too?
