I will be arriving in Naples for 9 hrs with a cruise. I know I cannot do the whole of Pompeii in 4 hrs. Can I get some suggestions on what to see when I'm there. Also would I have time to go for a pizza in Naples afterwards?

When you arrive at the site, they will give you a map with suggested itineraries. One of the itineraries is for a four-hour visit, so I would recommend just following the suggested route. Alternately, hook up with a group and hire a guide, and let the guide know that you need to be done in four hours.

I don't know the extent of your interest in the history of Pompeii or if like me, you know the basics and are curious just to see it. In any event, I found that I saw more than I expected to see in less than four hours. If you want to stop at just about every building and section and ponder the full written history then you will need at least four hours and probably lots more but if you are just going for the purpose of having a look , then you should be able to get back to Naples in time for a quick pizza. The train trip from Naples takes about twenty minutes and trains are really frequent going and coming and of course as you probably know, the train station in Pompeii is right at the gate to the site. I think you can manage both. Enjoy Pompeii, it really is something to see.
