By the way, if you are absolute beginners you might find a group lesson for the first couple days, and then a private instructor will make sense if budget is a concern (if it's not, then just go private all the way). Just be sure to make it clear that you have never skied before when you reserve, so that you are put into the right group. I say this because I also learned to ski as an adult and know that the first days are going to be pretty similar no matter who instructs you, as you feel what it's like to slide around on snow and get used to the sensation and figure out how to control your skis. After that initial 'shock to the system' is over, you will make faster progress with private lessons.
