Liverpool Transportation from Lennon Aiport
Posted: Sat December 1, 2007 02:18 AM UTC
I'm doing a day trip from Dublin to Liverpool on 12/11 (Tuesday) with 4 buddies. Whats the best way to get from the airport to the Albert Dock. Would it be best to purchase a bus pass or taxi into the city and hoof it for the rest of the day?

thanks, ChgoKid

Easiest way to get to the city centre is to get the bus 80A ( which usually leaves from stand 4 outside the Airport, but check on the day as there is a lot of work going on outsude the airport ). You can either stay on this bus to Charlotte Street ( which is in the city centre) and get a taxi from there, or you could get of this bus at Liverpool South Parkway Railway station and catch the merseyrail train towards Southport ( train times coincide with the buses) and get off at Brunswick, when you come out of the station take a right and the Albert Dock is about a 12-15 minute walk from there ( about £4.00 in a cab ) or personally i would stay on the train to Liverpool Central Station, get off and change lines to the Wirral Line, and get on any train on the wirral line for 1 stop to James Street Station. Come out of the Station, take a right walk about 50 yards onto Wapping, take a left and the Albert dock is ooposite you about 2 minutes walk away.

Go to the Merseytravel desk inside the Airport and purchase a saveway ticket for Zone C this will cover you for all off peak travel on buses and trains for a day and costs £2.40.

More info on trains buses ferries etc on www.merseytravel.gov.uk

The bus from the station is the easiest & cheapest option its only £1.40 i think but not the quickest, will drop you in queens square the main bus station which is right in town, its surronded by pubs so if you need a post journey tipple that should serve you good.

You can then walk down to the docks from there, or jump a cab (wont be much between 4 of you)

Queens square is a hell of a hike to the Albert Dock if you are walking with luggage.

The easiest way is to get the 500 express bus. This runs directly to and from the airport to the city centre with virtually no stops in between. When you get off in the city centre just walk down to the Liver Building (hard to miss) and jump on the S1 which stops at the Pier Head. This a new circular bus service that connects all the major tourist attractions in the city, including the Albert Dock.

Hope that is of some help.

It would be a fair hike with luggage, the fact there on a day trip gave me the idea they wont have any?
