| Agra | Chennai to Agra Posted: Fri November 30, 2007 04:23 PM UTC
Hello,
I will dock in Chennai in March, and I have five days to explore India. What is the most efficient and cost-effective way to get to Agra to see the Taj Mahal? Thank You |

In my opinion there is only one way worth considering if you have only 5 days and that is by air to Delhi and train/taxi (4 hours) from there. The Rajdhani takes about 27 hours but I believe it only departs Chennai on Fridays and Saturdays and you haven't given dates/days. There are also the Grand Trunk Express and Tamil Nadu Express which stop at Agra Cantonment but take more than 30 hours and that is WITHOUT DELAYS, which are frequent (and can be long...).
Here is flight schedule: http://www.mapsofindia.com/flight-schedule/chennai-delhi.html

Hi - Take one of the low cost airlines (Air Deccan, Indigo, GoAir) to Delhi and then take a taxi to Agra. Allowing for travel time, you can spend a day or two in Delhi, a day in Agra, and a day in Chennai. There is so much to see in India but at least in 5 days you will get a taste of it and the Taj is really wonderful! Enjoy!
