Blue Mountains National Park Train ride to Katoomba-Blue Mountains
Posted: Fri November 30, 2007 11:58 AM UTC
Hi, I will be travelling to Sydney in a couple of days' time. I am deciding between taking a coach to blue mountains and the railway. Is the train ride from Central Station to Kamtoomba above ground? Does it offer a scenic view? Will it be crowded on a weekday?

Thanks.

Yes, it's above ground and as long as it isn't the evening peak time the trains won't be crowded.

HI! Janice:

Agrees with the previous 2 VTers - go with the train. It's comfy and yes, there will be sceneries...and as Colin had mentioned, as long as it's not peak hours, it wouldn't be crowded.

Hi,
Agree with the other VT er's. The scenery will be pretty good passing over the Nepean River just before you start to climb with cliffs and gorges ( + 1 short tunnel), the view gets better around Wentworth Falls to Katoomba.
Katoomba Railway Station is about 2 km from Echo Point, but you can get an all day ticket on the trolley bus for about $15, which visits lots of places including Scenic World with the Scenic Railway.
Cheers
Brian
