Hi Antonio, Yogyakarta is second tourist destination in Indonesia after Bali, The local peoples are very friendship, eventhough everywhere in the world, there are a good and there are a bad, we need to be a vigilance.
The popular touristic place were MALIOBORO STREET, SULTAN (KING) PALACE, TAMAN SARI (WATER CASTLE), VREDEBURG FORT, GEMBIRA LOKA ZOO, AFFANDI (ART PAINTINGS) MUSEUM, SUNDAY MORNING MARKET AT GADJAH MADA UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD, PARANG TRITIS BEACH, PRAMBANAN TEMPLE, BOROBUDUR TEMPLE. There are many hotels along Malioboro street, from cheap one for backpackers and long stay to 4 0r 5 star hotels. HOTEL IBIS is located at Malioboro street, at the heart of Yogyakarta.Don't miss the night life at Malioboro street with street vendor restaurants and its local cuisine. Have a nice traveling to Yogyakarta. Regards from Gani-Bogor

Accommodation - try jalan dagen area. There's plenty of budget yet decent accommodation. If you are going in March, you can just walk in and check the area first.
Dining - gudeg is the specialty of Yogya. Try Gudeg Yu' Djum for traditional gudeg. Other that you might want to try is next to Keraton Kebon (that's what the yogyanese people called it)(behind the main palace). There's this restaurant that is owned by one of the palace decendants that served traditional foods. Other suggestions - Aside from the main attractions, take time to watch the Ramayana Ballet at Candi Prambanan (night time). If you are going to spend a sunday in Yogya, you can watch traditional javanese dances at the hall of Keraton Kebon.
