| Hamburg | Hamburg - New Years! Posted: Thu November 29, 2007 05:29 PM UTC
Hi all,
I'm coming to Hamburg from dec 29th to Jan 2nd. Other than the saturday which i'm arriving, will shops be open thereafter? What about bars & restaurants? It will be shame to come all this way to stay in a hotel room and/or walk around aimlessly because nothing is open during the day. Also, does anyone know about the ratskeller restaurant ie can you just walk in or is reservations required? - their website does'nt seem to be working Look forward to hearing from you all |

Hello,
December 31st is not a public holiday, so most shops should be open. At least the big stores and the shopping centres. Some smaller shops might be closed. Bars and restaurants will be open regularly that weekend. For more info: http://www.hamburg-tourism.de/en/themes-tours/lifestyle-scene/ Cheers, Elena

On 30 December everything will be closed coz it's a Sunday.
Normally shops close at around noon on the 31st of December. 1 January everything will be closed again for New Year's Day. 2 January will be normal again. Sorry, but you will need a plan B as shopping won't be an option. Most museums should be open. Sabs
