| San Juan | Trendy and Fashionable shopping in San Juan??? Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 10:24 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,
We are 2 girls in our early 20's and we were hoping to do some clothes shopping in San Juan since we'll be visiting soon. Does anyone know of trendy, very fashionable, Melrose street LA style clothing stores there? Not American department chain stores though, something unique and cute:! Any info would be great, thanks so much!! |

Check out the smaller boutique type stores in Old San Juan. You may have to search a little since there are also tourist type shops. Also in the Condado there will be shops like you are looking for.
Depending on how long you are going to be there, think about taking a ferry to St. Thomas. The downtown area has many, many wonderful little clothing shops!

Sadly I don't remember the actual names of streets,I was working on a ship so I was in port @ San Juan twice a week and had many contacts with cabbies and locals.
I do remember though when we needed dresses for New Years we opened up the yellow pages and looked for dress shops in Condado and then picked the ones that were on the same street. Don't discount that huge mall Plaza Las Americas... though they have many of the same stores that you would at home, they carry different merch! eg. On a Friday I shopped at A/X in N.Y. city, sailed to San Juan and went shopping in A/X three days later at the mall and TOTALLY different stock.

Try the area around Cristo Street, not only did they have the designer stores like Guess, but they also had a few little trendy boutiques in the surrounding streets. (you are not to far from the Cristal rum bar either which is great for post shopping cocktails for free, see entry on my San Juan page )

In the Condado area you can go about a half mile in either direction from the Marriot on Ashford Ave. West is the high line (Gucci etc.), and East are the more trendy, chic, shops. Have fun, we'll be there again for our annual vacation in March.
