My husband and I are interested in taking a trip to Seychelles this winter. We are coming from the Western United States and we are havikng trouble looking up flights. Travelocity and those basic sites come back with nothing, and when I looked it up on yahoo it says the tickets would each be 9,000 USD. Is this correct, or is there some place where I might be able to search which is reasonable.

Have you tried the option of flying to say Johannesburg (South Africa) and then onwards from there? Air Mauritius has regular flights from Johannesburg.

Sorry that should have read Air Seychelles.
Other options are to fly via Europe - London, Paris Frankfurt etc. See www.airseychelles.com

Jenn,
My husband and I flew to Seychelles in February from the west coast. As you've noted, it is difficult to book flights and tickets are very expensive (we ended up using frequent flier miles). As glenkasner notes in his post, you might want to transit via Europe or Africa. I've found the cheaper fares to be from Paris (CDG) out of LAX with an ongoing flight into Mahe on Air France or Emirates. If you book the trip under two itineraries, be sure to allow at least a day in between your arrivals and departures to make sure you can catch your connecting flight (airlines aren't responsible to get you to your connecting flight if you book the tickets under two separate reservations). Good luck! My husband and I dream of going back soon. It's definitely worth the long flights!!!

You could try getting to New York and using Emirates Via Dubai
or from Washington DC on Qatar airlines Via Doha The best option is probably Northwest/KLM/and Kenya Airways via Amsterdam and Nairobi then you dont have to go to New York or Washington but I think these days the flight from Nairobi only goes once a week I went last winter from Minneapolis to London on NW London to Dubai to Seychelles on Emirates coming back Seychelles-Dubai-Dusseldorf on Emirates and KLM to Amsterdam and Northwest to Minneapolis Eric Eastwick
