Penang Bayview or Cititel Hotel?
Posted: Mon November 26, 2007 07:59 AM UTC
m package allows me to pick from either one of these:
Bayview, Berjaya Georgetown, sunway georgetown or Cititel hotel..

i went to Asiarooms and read the reviews and narrow it down to these 2
Bayview and Cititel...

1.)which one is better in terms of accessibility to hawker food and shopping?
2.)i've only 2 days in Penang.. would like to try the local fare and do some simple shopping.. i'll be heading to KL for 2 days after that.. is there anything i muz try/eat/shop/buy that is not available in KL/Bangkok/Singapore?

thanks

Both Cititel and Bayview George Town are next to each other. And close to eating, shopping at Prangin Mall and night entertainment on Upper Penang Road. Cititel has a very Japanese restauarant and more budget business stay. Bayview is more popular with tour groups. I prefer Bayview George Town for stay.

Penang is famous for all kinds of Chinese noodles and Indian Muslim food. You can get the equivalent in KL but it taste better and cheaper in Penang. Many stalls in KL will claim that they are from Penang.

Check my Penang page for more information.

hi fish...

i do not know your reasons for considering bayview and cititel... both of these 2 hotels are actually quite close to each other... for hawker food, the vicinity of sunway is a whole food paradise... and it is within walking distance to komtar for some shopping... berjaya sits on a shopping complex with many hawker food outlets as well and withn walking distance... i have stayed in all the 4 hotels and personally would have berjaya and sunway in that order... i would not even consider cititel and bayview at all...
