Gibraltar getting from railwaystation "La Linea-San Roque" to Gibraltar ?
Posted: Sun November 25, 2007 02:42 PM UTC
Hello,

I would arrive on a Friday morning with a regional train between Bobadilla and Algeciras. Arrival time in "La Linea-San Roque" RENFE-station would be at 11.37.

Any advice on getting from this train station to Gibraltar would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Bart W.

From where are you setting off originally? From Algeciras? I personally would get the bus service from Algeciras to La Linea, should take 25 minutes and the buses are far more regular than at Estacion de San Roque. I know that the station is under the name of "La Linea-San Roque" but La Linea is about 20 km from the train station. Once in La Linea it is only 200m to the border, remember to bring your passport or Id card(EU nationals only).

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I am actually coming from the other direction (Bobadilla)... but I could stay in the train until Algeciras. Any idea if I can find schedules for the bus between Algeciras and La Linea on the internet ?

Regards,
Bart W.

There is a regular service every 30 min from Algeciras to La Linea, there are two companies which do the service Portillo and Comes, I have had a look in their websites but they do not give much info on short routes, but as I said they do leave every 30 minutes and at 11.37 am you wouldnt have any problems whatsoever. There is no service at night, I am unsure which is the last bus but I think its 2100hrs or so.

Just watch out in the train and bus stations for pickpockets.

Hi there
I have done Algeciras to La Linea recently. It usually takes around 40 minutes, sometimes a few more.

The timetable varies. Every half an hour is a good rule of thumb for weekdays though (every 45 mins at weekends).

Last bus from Algeciras according to my timetable which I got a few weeks ago is 22.30, every day of the week.

The cost is €1.90.

It is a convenient service, hence I often use it to get a direct bus to Algeciras and then to La Linea, rather than doing a tedious bus route via every station to La Linea. The railway station in Alge is just over the road from the bright shiny new bus station. (I say that because the first time we ever went it was a bit like a muddy back yard.)

If you want any more info please post or pm me. Happy to help.

When you get to La Linea, go straight up the street out of the front door, turn left at the sea front and head for the rock. It is easy and 5 or 10 mins walk depending on how fast or slow you are.
