Hi, what's the best way to get from Malaga to Faro in Portugal? How long does it take to get there by bus or train? Thanks for any help.

I think your only option by bus is by ALSA, overnight, leaving Malaga at 21.00 arr. Faro 01.45 - which to you would be 02.45, Portuguese time being an hour behind as in UK, so about 6 hrs; might be better to do it in stages e.g. Malaga to Seville and then start again from there. See http://thomasallen.home.sapo.pt/travel/001.htm
Railway timetables will direct you to Faro via Lisbon, with several changes e.g. Malaga-[Cordoba]-Seville-Merida-Caceres-Lisbon-Faro!

Hi,
How about this ? Malaga 1030-Sevilla 1258 (Regional train 598) (EUR 16,65) Sevilla 1500-Faro 1630 (1730 Spanish time) (Bus Alsa) (EUR 18,00) Regards, Bart W. (Brussels)

The train goes from Malaga to Seville several times each day. It takes around 2 to 3 hours. When you arrive at Seville you are at Santa Justa station. (Unless you alight at the stop just before called San Bernardo that is actually closer to the old city popular touristy areas) You would then need to transfer over to the bus station called PLAZA DES ARMAS which is actually on the other side of the old city from the railway station. Of course, if you are travelling light the you could walk it in about one hour stopping off to look at some sights in Seville. But a taxi would take about 15 minutes and cost maybe 10 Euros. (maximum) probably less !
If you took a bus from Malaga to Seville then you arrive at another bus station (not Armas) but the one called Estación del Prado de San Sebastián. This one is actually very close to the Alcazar and Cathedral and Barrio Santa Cruz area of Seville. As well as being across the road from the San Sebastián park and the Plaza de Espana. You can always get a taxi to the other bus station and it won't take too long or cost too much. Or walk through the city centre. if you have already visited Seville then clearly the ALSA bus is a very good option. Spanish time is always one hour ahead of Portugal. So if you go INTO Portugal the time changes to minus one hour.

Thank you all! U really helped, especially that I didn't have much time to check timetables by myself 'cos I'm coming to Malaga in 4 days.
VT-ers are great! Thanks.
