| Isla de Lanzarote | Is at Lanzarote as windy as at Fuerteventura? Posted: Sun November 25, 2007 11:09 AM UTC
Hello,
I'm going to spend a few days at Lanzarote in December. I read, that at Fuerteventura is windy weather (it was the reason, that I resigned this destination) and I wonder wheter at Lanzarote is the same. Have you any experiences about it? Thanks in advance for your replies. Cheers! Agata |

Not quite as windy, no, though it depends on where you are. Fuerteventura is a big wind-surfing destination, which must tell you something.
Even if it is breezy, there is more shelter on Lanzarote than on Fuerteventura. Try looking at webcams on http://www.lanzarote-webcam.com/

Thank you very much for your reply :)
Could you recommend any quiet place (what part of isle) where wind is the least?

My friend and I have been doing some research on the subject, as we will be spending a week in Lanzarote next February. Apparently, the most popular resorts on the eastern coast of the island (such as Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise) are also the most exposed to the wind, so we have chosen the more sheltered resort of Playa Blanca in the south, which also seems to be more upmarket and much quieter.
Good luck.

Playa Quemada, near the small resort of Puerto Calero, and Playa Del Jablillo near the centre of Costa Teguise are sheltered from the wind. Stay away from Famara which gets a cold North wind in the winter. I'm sure you can google for more local information.
