Re: Games consoles - where to buy Posted: Fri November 23, 2007 11:58 AM UTC
Hi!
I don't know how is the stock in Madeira but I presume you will be able to buy it there because in Mainland Portugal the Wii console is still widely available (in shops and trough internet sites). Here it costs around 249€ (£170-175) and the price must be the same there. I think it comes with the sports pack.
In Funchal you can look for the Wii console in the "Worten" shop in one shopping centre called "MadeiraShopping".
This is the address:
Centro Comercial MadeiraShopping
Caminho de Santa Quitéria
9000 Funchal
You can also look for it in the biggest shopping centre "Forum Madeira" because there's another big shop there called "Radio Popular".
The address is:
Estrada Monumental Piornais
Loja 29, Piso 0
9000 Funchal
I guess you won't need these adresses because everyone will know how to give you the directions for both shopping centres.
You can also look for game consoles in the big supermarkets (we call them "hipermercados").
However my advice for you is to buy the console trough the Radio Popular website (http://www.radiopopular.pt/lojaOnline.php). One of the delivery options is to pick it up on one of their many shops in Portugal. I checked it now and they have it available in its shop in Forum Madeira.
But I have a doubt here. I don't know if it's possible for a foreigner to register and buy any product online trough that website. Therefore you should send them an e-mail to lojae@radiopopular.pt explaining your situation and asking if you can buy the console online or if there is any way to reserve the console for you (in case they turn sold out).
If they take too much time to answer it would probably be because they only expect e-mails written in portuguese lol. If that's the case I could help you with that later. Make another reply to this thread in case you need my help.
Nevertheless the chances for you to find the console in the shops in Funchal is still high but only if you are going there before Christmas. I cannot be so sure about the stocks after Christmas lol.
Have a nice stay!
