I have a trip planned with friends to go to Machu Picchu in March, during the tail end of the rainy season. We will be camping on this trip. I want to know if other people have traveled to Machu Picchu during March, and, if so, did they encounter thunderstorms. I have read an account of a tourist who was killed by a lightning strike while trekking on Machu Picchu and it is making me nervous.

You can walk machu Picchu and risk lighteing or stay at home and risk getting knocked down by a bus. When you are dealing with remote probabilities you should try not to worry about it or you will never get out of bed never mind go to amazing places.
