| Honolulu | HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION NEEDED FOR ONE MONTH OVER CHRISTMAS 2007 Posted: Thu November 22, 2007 08:41 PM UTC
We are a couple who are coming to Honolulu on 18 December until 14 January to get away from London, England for an exteneded holiday. We would like to stay in good value holiday accommodation, perhaps a budget hotel or an apartment, where we can do a little cooking ourselves. We plan to relax on the beach most of the time so it would be a bonus if we could be based close to it. We would really appreciate some tips on where to stay that won't break the bank!
Thanks. |

That's a busy time of the year and short notice, but you might look at http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com and click on some of their adds or attached websites for starters. Waikiki has the famous beach, but the opposite side of the island has great beaches and are less crowded.

This is a long shot as it is many years since I was in Honolulu. Back then I used to stay at a little hotel on Saratoga Road called the Malihini. I see that it still exists but what it is like now I don't know. It has everything you asked for. It has small apartments where you can do your own cooking. It is across the road from the famous Reef Hotel which is right on the beach at Waikiki. So to get to the beach, you just cross the road and walk throught theReef Hotel shopping arcade and this brings you out right onto the beach, in less than two minutes from leaving the hotel. It was always very reasonably priced, modest but extremely friendly and right in the middle of all the action as well. You can get buses to all the other places on the island from within walking distance. Definitely worth investigating, I can assure you. I stayed there many times over a number of years and I would love to think that it is still the great little place it was back then.

The Hawaiian Monach is the best and most economical choice in Honolulu.
You will love its perfect location None better for "THE BUS" and quiet too. See my homepage "thinking" and then click on my "Honolulu" page as I have 134 photos and 84 good tips. I have lived in Honolulu for 7 years, and visited at least 6 months in 2005 and 2006. I know the old Hawaii of the 1980's as well as the new "globalized" version that is under construction. I am a lawyer, (Hawaii included in my list of states and countries that I can practice) and know the islands and the world very well. My tips were written to assist travelers.

We always stay at The Breakers (www.breakers-hawaii.com). It's in the same area as the place Maryimelda recommended but fronts on Beachwalk (the back is on Saratoga). That area of Waikiki is nice as well because it is so close to the beach but on the leeward side of the main area so it's nice and quiet. All the rooms have kitchenettes and mini-fridges.
