| Gold Coast | Where to stay close to theme parks. Posted: Wed November 21, 2007 12:20 PM UTC
My husband and I are wanting to visit the theme parks on the gold coast and would like accomadation for us and our two young children. We are not after anything 5 star just a nice quiet clean place to stay. If anyone knows the names of some motels that would be fantastic. Thanks in advance.

Have you considered staying closer to the beach and traavelling to the parks. You can get public transport (buses) to them if you do not have a car.

Hi There is an excellent bus service that runs up and down the Gold Coast, past all the beaches and the bus service goes to the theme parks. Find accommodation close to the beach, you holiday will be much better. When you select accommodation, phone or email the hotel/motel and ask for details about the bus service to theme parks etc.before you reserve the accommodation. Make certain you are within walking distance of the beach.
Good Luck, Mike

Hi Shamali
The closest and nicest accomodation available near the theme parks would be the Hyatt at Sanctuary Cove (5 star). It is approximately 5 minutes drive from Dreamworld, Movieworld and Wet N Wild. Sanctuary Cove is a mini village of its own, surrounded by plush golf courses, restaurants and high end living by the locals. It is right on the water front. Unfortunately there isn't much other accomodation available around near these theme parks as it is a little inland. If you would like to be closer to the beach consider places like Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. Sea World is located in Main Beach and has its own resort attached called Sea World Nara Resort, which I recommend. Entry to the theme park can be included with your accomodation package. Also its useful to know that Wet N Wild, Sea World and Movie World are all co owned so you can get pass to visit all three for a flat rate. You may wish to look into public transport if you are going to consider using it to get to the theme parks. The bus website is www.surfside.com.au If you email me the price range per night you want to pay for accomodation I can recommend some places for you. Hope this helps :)

Biancas advice is pretty good.
If you are driving the theme parks are only 15-20 mins from Surfers Paradise. If you are using buses etc ther are numerous buses every day to the parks that will pick you up from your hotel or flat.. Fopr accomodation why not have a look on the web. Generally is is not too dear on the Gold Coast (except school hols etc). There are numerous choices. Try one of the web booking agencies get a quote but ring the accomodation direct. It always seems to be cheaper. Units are not much dearer than motels and can even be cheaper. Try to stay Main Beach, Surfers or Broadbeach This seems to be the centre of the Gold Coast these days and any accom in these areas is close to shops, restaurants cafes etc. Have fun and remember the block out.
