| Vernazza | Train to Vernazza, or La Spezia? Posted: Wed November 21, 2007 12:09 AM UTC
I have read in several places that it is best to take the train to La Spezia and then take a local train from there to Vernazza. However, Trenitalia.it shows trains going from Milan directly to Vernazza.
Is there any specific reason to change trains in La Spezia? |

Hi, a good reason is time because trains that stops in Vernazza stops in many other minor towns and so could be quickly to take a train to La Spezia (that stops only in the major towns)and there change.

If you are coming from Milan then likely the train will go via the NORTH of Cinque Terre, around Genoa. I don't know if this train will then go direct into Vernazza or if you will have to change to the local train in Genoa or another city, but in any case it's no problem.
The train going via La Spezia would be coming from the direction of Florence or Pisa/Lucca, via the SOUTH of Cinque Terre. If your train is travelling from Milan via Florence, then yes, you'd change to the local train at La Spezia. If your train is travelling from Milan via Genoa then I suppose it could be that you can go direct to Vernazza or you might have to change to local train along the way. If your ticket indicates it's direct and there is no change listed then there you have your answer. Ciao! LL
