| Verona | Which station? Posted: Tue November 20, 2007 04:56 PM UTC
Hi - there seem to be several stations in Verona. Of course we would like to pick a hotel in the lovely older part of Verona. So which station should we get off at? And what area should we look for a hotel in?
And any other Verona things we should know? Thanks so much. |

Hi Jen, how's your holiday going?
Your best station is Porta Nuova. You could try the Hotel Bologna right on the corner of the piazza outside the amphitheatre. Do all the usual stuff, but if you fancy splashing out one night then you must eat at Ristorante 12 Apostoli.

hey mate - porta nuova eh - ta
we are having so much fun it's scarey we will look for a hotel on wotif.com - being cheapskates - just wondering what area we should make sure it is in - how much might bologna cost us? we are eating for free at the moment so making pigs of ourselves - will be hard to spend big money on meals after a month of free (and drink too, sloshing back the grand marnier last night, my dear!) - so may live on takeaway in verona

Hey, check my page, Verona is "my" town. There are good but cheaper hotels too, 60-80 euros. In case, just drop a line. Btw, whe you will be there?

Hey Jen! If the offer for the Bologna hotel is good for you, don't waste a second and take it! Quick! The hotel himself is good (for what i know) but the position is THE BEST!
If not that, look at the http://www.hoteltorcolo.it/ Another great value for money, having itself a wonderful position... When will you be here? Ciao Francesco P.S. the station is Porta Nuova, walkable to/from center if you don't have too much baggages. If you need more info, just ask here... If Boris won'r answer (ciao, Boris!) i will try to help

Hi Jen
we've booked into the Bologna as well -but for January. I checked out heaps of places and it sounds good-location, price etc. It's good to hear that everyone here thinks it's ok as well. Sounds as though you are having great fun. We leave for Italy next week. ciao bertoli

Porta Nuova - you can go to the right and the tobacchi shop to get a ticket - take the bus outside the train station through the gates to city centre - would highly recommend l'ospite with federica derossi who is mentioned in rick steves book - the address is via septembre XXII and the bus will go right to there.
e-mail is info@l'opsite.com and federica will be one of the best things about verona - her flats are reasonable. very clean and she is accomodating - tell her that dan from pittsburgh recommended you to her

we will be there the 19th 20th and 2ist december - we were going to go to bologna but now we feel we must see verona - our property in australia is called verona - because the two eldest children of the man who built it were Vera and Ron.
gillian mclaughlin said she might be able to join us in bologna but i gotta find out if verona is good for her too thank you all for your kind help - i will be sure to ask again if anything else comes up ciao ciao - jen
