| Cayo Guillermo | Water sports in resort Posted: Tue November 20, 2007 11:04 AM UTC
Hi
Im going to the Sol Cayo Guillermo in Jan 08 and wondering what watersports there are available at the hotel. As far as I can see it is things like pedalos. Has anyone ever seen anybody doing any kitesurfing there? Not sure what the wind conditions are like or if they would even allow such a sport with the marine life? Also, have heard that it is good to take out small gifts for the hotel staff. Any advice on what is in favour with them at the moment? Any other tips or advice would also be appreciated! Thanks |

Thanks for the tips! Have you ever seen anyone actually kitesurf in the resort? The gear is quite bulky so don't want to take it out there for nothing.
Did you take your own fishing rod or can you hire them out there? Thanks!

Hi. there are like you say paddel boats kyak that you opperare. Little sail boats that a guide takes you on.(free) but if you want to tip, they will be happy. In the last few years, there has been more kite surfing goin on. These tourists bring all there own gear from home. As far as tipping goes, a dollar here and there is great. If you bring some tee shirts, hats, shoes, costume jewelry, asprin, tylenol, cds, etc., think about who you are giving it to and how you're going to give it to them. Try not to make it seem like it's charity. Cubans are a Proud people. They are alittle more reserved than the Mexicans. Once you get to know them they will open up big time. Try to go to your rep.'s presentation.Very informative. Usually the first or secound day into it. On certain days you can hop on a bus that takes you to cayo coco for the day.( free use of other hotel's beach, pools, resteraunts, and stuff.) you'll luv it. Bi there 11 years running.
