Hi,
We will be in SP July 26 & 27. Is there any way to book tickets for the Kirov online? I don't read Russian, of course. Also, it's our second time there and we are visiting the Hermitage again, as well as Peterhof, St. Isaac's, and the Spilled Blood. We think these locations are worth visiting twice. Should we visit something else? Thanx |

Here are two links for the ballet: Http://www.mariinsky.ru/en, and http://www.tickets.mariinsky.ru/index.php. I hope these help. Gary

unfortunately july could be the end of the season... but who knows, check www.mariinsky.ru (the site is available in english).
well, in my opinion there are a lot of places you could visit in StP, depending on what you're interesting in. For example, Mikhailovsky Castle near of Christ the Saviour (Spilled blood as you name it), it is the museum of Russian Fine Arts now. or St Peter and St Pavel Fortress. For me, just walking around the city is very pleasant pastime.

Usually I buy tickets to Mariinsky via internet
http://www.tickets.mariinsky.ru You need to register yourself and then buy. They accept Visa (not Visa Electron) cards. Print the number of the order and you will get your tickets before the perfomance at the ticket-office. Take in mind that in summer-time there are many tourists and it's better to buy in advance to get good seats with reasonable price - for July see the tickets in June. It's sad but ttickets are very expensive. Today price for the ballet Giselle was more then $100 (full price for tourists). Seats were very good and the ballet also. You can visit The Consert Hall of Mariinsky Theater - it's a new and moden hall for concerts of classic music with a very good acoustics. Tickets for the Concert Hall are not so expensive as to the Theater. We have another opera&ballet theater - Michailovsky (http://www.mikhailovsky.ru/index.php?gid=1) but Mariinsky is better. Prices for the tickets are less then to Mariinsky. If you will have time you can take a tour to Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo) and visit Catherina Palace with Amber Room. In summer it's difficult to get tickets as individual tourist - one need to stand in line 2 or 3 hour! It's easier to go there with a group. If you have any more question don't hesitate to contact me.

No, Andrey (see the post by Bugulma) - July is not the end of the season. Every year they organize the Festival "The Stars of White Nights" - from the middle of May to the beginning of August. In the the scope of of this festival many interesting events take place.

Hi Aquino46
I sincerely recommend visiting the Kunstkamera Museum, which houses Peter the Great’s Anthropology and Ethnography collections. Peter the Great was really interested in human anatomy so he issued decrees to bring bodies (both living and dead!) for studies, particularly deformed ones (anything from Siamese twins to cleft palates to 6 fingers and toes...) All of these bodies are preserved in jars and displayed in the musuem. Provided you're not squeamish, it really is fascinating! http://www.kunstkamera.ru/en/
