My nephew is in Paris - walking until he has blisters. With the transportation strike going on, how can he get to Versailles (cheap)? He is a graduate in fine art, with a love for rocco and has always dreamed of going there. Help!

Tell him to rent a bike and cycle it alone. Or have him call/drop by Fat Tire Tours and see what their best idea is. They run bike tours at Versaille all the time, usually there is a train ride involved but maybe they have made different plans in lieu of stike.

Unfortunately, the strike is kind of serious. The RER C (which is normally the easiest way to get to Versailles castle) is not running. Trains seem to be running from Montparnasse station to Versailles Rive gauche every half hour tomorrow. You can get information by calling at 0805 700 805 (toll free number).
Other than that, these days the best way is to walk around or ride a bicycle (Velib: self service bicycles)!
