| Estado de Oaxaca | Travel from Mexico City, great hotels, great nearby remote beaches? Posted: Wed November 14, 2007 09:45 PM UTC
We will be arriving in Mexico City on December 31 and staying until January 10. We hope to travel to Oaxaca for much of the vacation. Does anyone have tips on the best way (bus? which bus? etc.) to get from D.F. to Oaxaca City?
In the city of Oaxaca, where is the best place to stay? We are looking for some comfort, but most of all- excellent prices! Finally, we'd like to travel FROM Oaxaca to some remote coastal beach area for a few days. The more private the beach front, the better. Any suggestions of great secluded beaches? And any suggestions how to get there from Oaxaca? Any suggestions on places to stay out near the ocean? Thank you for any ideas you may have. |

Three of the best beaches in Mexico, all within an hour of each other. Mazunte is a backpackers haven, while Zipolite is known for its laid back atmosphere. Puerto Escondido is one of the best surfing spots in Mexico and an all-around great place to chill. Also, has a great night life scene for those looking to dance and chill. Zicatel is the one of the most popular destionations for backpackers in Oaxaca.
Stayed at a small B & B in Oxaca, but unfortunately can't remember the name. Sorry!! But it was good. It's in Lonely Planet.
