Puerto Galera Puerto Galera General.

Hi,we would really appreciate some guidance. Until we learned that there wasn't much available by way of small sailing boats to rent we were planning to stay in Panglao. However, after some research we think we may be better off focussing on Puerto Galeras area..Very interested to learn details of how to get there from Caticlan and locate "inexpensive accomodation" with pool and day sailing boat rental - late Jan early Feb.
We are a family of 3 (our 13 yr old can share our room). A Certificated Yachtmaster (British RYA)we do not require crew for the sailing bit. It will be our first trip there so any tips/info very much appreciated.
Can reply direct to galloconnect@hotmail.com

Much appreciated

Thanks - John

Hi John and Tess, i'm not very familiar with the yachting crowd in the Philippines, so i can only help by giving some organizations' sites you might want to check out. Try the Manila Yacht Club at http://manilayatchtclub.org and the Subic Bay Yacht Club at www.sbyc.com.ph; which orgs at least may be able to refer you to someone who can... :-) Hope you make it and enjoy your time when you do!

..
not much info here on transportation and yachting.. but i do recall a place we stayed in at puerto last year. it's called apartelle de francesca.. we went there during non-peak season and we got a room with two double(or queen? i can't remember)-sized beds for around Php1500. they have a cute footprint-shaped pool. staff was friendly and helpful. some cons would be that it's a five-minute walk to the beach.. http://www.francescaresort.com/rooms.html

HI,

Thanks to all for your kind input.
Having real difficulty in locating painless way of getting to Puerto Galera from Caticlan by Ferry - RORO etc..Any suggestions appreciated.

Considering the area is surrounded by sea, I am surprised at the lack of day sailboats to rent.

Best
John
