Cortina d'Ampezzo El Toula restaurant
Posted: Mon November 12, 2007 12:00 PM UTC
I'm going to Cortina for Christmas, fly on 22nd Dec. I'm wanting to book a nive restaurant for the evening of 25th Dec. I'm thinking of either El Toula or La Tavernetta.

Does anyone know roughly how muich El Toula is price wise? I've been on the website but the menu keeps crashing and I can't view it.

Can anyone reccommend any other restaurants for a Christmas meal??

Thanks x

We know both these restaurants very well. El Toula is expensive but worth every penny. Try to reserve a window seat - fabulous view across Cortina. It is set on three separarte floors and there's even a red carpet from the car park to the front door. It's a little too far to walk from the centre of town but it's only 5 minutes by taxi.
La Tavernetta is within walking distance of town, on the same road as the Ice Rink. It, too, has an excellent menu (try their beef fiorentina. It is not as expensive as El Toula but the latter does have the edge.
At El Toula you won't get much change out of 100 euros per person(incl. wine)
La Tavernetta will probably stand you in about 70 euros per person.
I also reccommend Ristorante Pontegel on Largo delle Poste.

Sorry, but I should have also mentioned Ristorante di Aurellio up at Passo Giao.

Pontegel - tel: 0436 863828
Aurellio - tel: 0437 720118
Toula - tel: 0436 3339
Don't have a number for La Tavernetta

You should be OK at any of these for Christmas lunch, but they may not be open in the evening. Be sure to book soon as Cortina gets packed over Christms

Thanks so much for the tips. A friend of mine speaks Italian so I've asked her to call and book today if possible.

Do you reccommend a particular dish at La Toula. My boyfriend is South African and therefore loves to eat red meat!!!

If the food is such good quality I don't mind the cost.

Thanks again

They have Beef Fiorentina on their menu. It's for 2 people(minimun) but you won't taste a better piece of beef anywhere
PS We will be there in February(as usual)
