Chiang Rai goin to Laos

hello everyone, i'm kindly requestin for your help to getsome advise cuz i need to know which is the closest Laos border city to Chiang Rai, although I'm stayin at Pai, Thailand; I'm takin a bus to Chiang Mai then Chiang Rai to finally get to Laos. The reason is to spend a couple of days there and to restamp my thai visa..,any kind of suggestion regardin this is welcome, thank u

if you are just doing a visa run, head to Burma instead. The closest border from Chiang Rai is Mae Sai (about 2 hours), I believe the visa is cheaper than Laos.

when we stayed in pai im pretty sure i was signs for vans to take you for visa crossing and that was for burma, we crossed over at mai sot in to burma. have you been to pai before? its a lovley place youll really like it.

Was just looking at my LP guide...Mae Sot also works too. If you are heading south after, Mae Sot probably works better, and you can stop by at Sukhothai for a day or two, a historical town where the ancient kingkom once thrived.
