Puglia Has anyone traveled to the villa Nova/ Diana Marina area of Ostuni ?
Posted: Sat November 10, 2007 07:58 PM UTC
I would like to hear of any VT'ers experience who vacationed in the Ostuni area of Villa Nova/Diana Marina. Also has anyone ever booked reservations through a company called villen-apulien ferien am meer. It is a company that operates out of Germany/rents vacation rentals in the Puglia area of Italy. I would be interested in comments concerning any experiences in this area of Italy Thanks!

sararosa,
i know very well this area.
Near Diana Marina there is a little village named "Monticelli". Between "Monticelli" and "Rosa Marina" there is a little bay named "Quarto di Monte" (if you want search on Google Earth latitude 40°47'49.37"N, longitude 17°33'44.85"E). It's a beautiful place. You can see some photos on http://www.geocities.com/trullivalley/ostunispiagge.htm

Others beautiful places, Villanova are "Costa Merlata" or the natural reserve of "Torre Guaceto" http://www.riservaditorreguaceto.it/
http://www.parks.it/riserva.marina.torre.guaceto/Eindex.html

all places are closest (about 30 km from monticelli to torre guaceto)

If you want book, I suggest you to contact the hotel directly. If you book by means of intermediary agency you must add to the cost of the room an additional fee.

Near Ostuni thera are a lot of beautiful b&b (if you rent a car is better beacause you can move from a place to another without difficulty).

Hi, we`ve been to Puglia this year and the beach we liked best was Torre di Guaceto - not very far from Diana Marina. We gave Diana Marina a try but liked Torre di Guaceto much better.

Thank you both Sergio/Michael for your advise. I'm afraid I have already made arrangements to stay at a small beach house at Diana Marina in the Spring
of next year. I did book through a company called villen-apulien . The rental agent stated that the house belongs to a friend of his. I just thought it odd that he would insist on the payment in full before arrival and that I would have to meet someone at a local tavern who would take me to the property. Is this common practice in Italy, that some homes on the water are difficult to find?

Every house in Italy has water. anyway, in some places, expecially in country houses, the water may be not drinking water.
Cause you came in the spring a good solution may be to rent an house with radiators.
Don't give all money before to see your hose.
You can pay 25% before your arrival and the 75% after your arrival in the same moment you'll see the house.
You must be sure that the house has all you have agreed with the agent.

JoyDivision,
I'm planning our summer trip to Puglia also. Before going for 2 weeks in a villa at the Ionic coast, we spent a week to visit Trani, Altamura, Alberobello, Martina France, Monopoli,...
Could you pass me your source with the masseria references or propose something central in that area?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,

http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/c0f82/43/3/

here is a link to a great masseria we stayed in last year. It is quite central to most of the destinations you mentioned, but a car will be necessary.

Best regards - Michael
