Hello, I am an Australian currently living in Mauritius, I am a size 12 to 14 (5ft tall and 60kg's)and have heaps of trouble buying clothes and I am not that big. I have managed to find a few nice Tee Shirts which are locally made but I have to buy XXL, some other brands which go to XXL would hardly fit over my head, it is an absolute joke when you hold up a shirt with a XXL size on it and wonder how a 12 year old would fit into it. You can of course have clothes Tailor made and this can be a reasonable option depending on what you want. I travel abroad for work and have had business suits Tailor made. Basically it depends on what you are looking for, if you want western type clothes I think you may find it quite difficult if not near impossible. After 7 months living here (and it is a wonderful place) I have only managed to find a few things to fit me nicely and they were relatively expensive. If you want Indian Style clothes you can buy them in all sizes from the Indian shops. I would recommend you bring enough clothes to get you through your holiday, if you find some nice things that fit well that is a bonus. You do not want to be on holiday and then be stressed out because you have 'nothing to wear'. The so called 'Factory Shops' all have brand named copies and some of it is very nice but be careful they try to charge top dollar for copies and taxi drivers will take you to shops where they get a kick back. I have found some of the best shopping for all sorts of things is in Port Louis (not in the tourist market)and it is fun to wander the back streets and find some little treasures. I am happy to help further if you want to post here or you can email me on judy@intergise.com
