After debating between Jericoacoara, Arraial d'Ajuda, Maragogi and Porto de Galinhas, we are finally set on spending 10 nights in Porto de Galinhas (please let me know if you think another place in Brazil is better).

Now we are torn between where to stay in Porta Galinhas. I have heard that the Hotel Ponta d'Ocapora is really nice and has a great beach. BUT I have also heard that the Pousada Tabatiptaga is very nice as well (and more private). Can anyone give me their thoughts on which would be the better option?

I saw Hotel Ponta d'Ocapora, nice hotel, I do not know Pousada Tabatiptaga, for sure Porto de Galinhas is good, I've been there few years ago, I liked very much, I wish I gone there again, maybe 10 days are too many. Close to there there is Recife, Olinda.. have some hours spent there, you can hire a car or there is also a bus to Recife.

You wrote "(please let me know if you think another place in Brazil is better)" I do not know what you mean for "better", If you look for some exciting nights in PdG I believe it would be better Arraial d'Ajuda (Porto Seguro). PdG is (was) very little. I don't know about Jericoacoara or Maragogi as I've never been there, if you looked for a very beatiful beach, search about "Praia de Pipa".

From Recife (and Natal) there are flights to Fernando de Noronha. three/four days there and then PdG could be a good choise, but if you look for "movida" you better go to Bahia :-)

Thanks for the tips. No, this is our honeymoon so we are completely anti-movida. Do you really think 10 nights is too much? We want to relax on the beach, walk a lot, take some day tours to surrounding cities and beaches and that's about it. We want a vacation bien tranqui.

I would LOVE to hit up Fernando de Noronha, but it is out of our budget. Our measly Argentine salaries won't allow it. :(

There are lots of beautiful beaches in Pernambuco,the state that has Recife as its capital. You have to go to Coroa do Aviăo, Gaibu e Caietas, do a boat tour to the mangrooves near Porto de Galinhas and see some marine horses and of course relax at the beach and enjoy a lot of fresh sea food. Try "muqueca" de camarăo (shrimps)or lagosta (lobster).
I think Tabapitanga is more beautiful and much more private. It belongs to a catalog of best pousadas in Brazil and the more charming one in Pernambuco.
While in Recife, visit Olinda and goes to the restaurante called Oficina dos sabores and try "Charque na moranga" or any other thing inside the moranga.

Thanks for the great tips! It sounds like we've chosen a great place to go. We'll definitely stop by some of the places you mentioned.

While in Olinda visit local articrafts, they are amazing and if you go to the church called Sé, try the Tapioca, a typical food made with roofs (manioc) and it can be salt or sweety.
In Recife one of the best restaurant is Bargaço, in front of the beach. You can also try others that are rated in a brasilian magazine (Viagem) as top 10. Assucar (Rua da Alfandega 35), Mingus (Rua do Atlantico 102), É (Rua do Atlantico 147) and Sabor de beijo (Av. Conselheiro Aguiar 2994)
In Porto de Galinhas try the restaurant Beijupira, the best of the best, and you will enjoy all the articrafts made with chicken stufs.
There you can choose other resorts such as :
Nannai, Summerville or Dorissol it all depends on your budget.
You should rent a car in Recife, its not so expensive, but if you go to the hotel by taxi, the airport is near the city, you can ask to the taxi driver for a car rental and he will find one cheaper than at the airport.
Olinda is only 10km from Recife and Porto de Galinhas is 70km
