Perth Alternative Perth?

Come on, come on, tell us a tale of where to venture for a little live music in the middle of nowhere. I've seen the nightlife pages and not noticed anything that'll shake me toes. Out with it, where is a chap to head for a noisy night of live tunes?

Ska? Punk? Japanese Gypsy Zydeco?

And while you're at it, check my meet idea...

Grindles, Jemtavish.

If you're looking for the real deal, the Zydecats play Cajun Zydeco at Clancy's Fish Pub in Fremantle on Sundays. These guys are all great musicians...especially their lead, Lucky Oceans - a grammy award-winning pedal steel player. Not to be missed.

Hey Jemm. Just dropped by to let you know that we usually have a nice welcome party for vt'ers who drop by Perth :o)
Might be a bit late notice, but I could try and get a few together on Saturday when you arrive. btw, I've signed up for your meet :o)
I think it would be a good idea for us to get together at the Lucky Shag...
Now before you go getting any ideas....it is a pub right on the Swan River near the famous Bell Tower.
Would you like me to let all the vt'ers know to meet up there at say....7pm on Saturday night?
Cheers, Ann.

What is it lately, I'm always away at work for a VT Meet - not happy at all....
Have a great time - the VT ladies will definetly lead u a stray - a murky sinister S&M world awaits, lol.
Need a drink, popular bar for live music with mix of songs is Universal Bar, nice mix of young - to 45. In Northbridge next to Brass Monkey.

What a shame you can't make it Neil :o(..... but hey psst Jem **you've got no competition for the attention of us ladies not now hehee**
Shame it's so short notice, otherwise we would have arranged to get you picked up from the airport.
Anyway, just jump in a cab from the Ibis....it's not really that far to walk, but quicker by cab :o) If you come in the side entrance up the ramp, we'll be there somewhere.
Looking forward to meeting up.
Cheers, Ann :o)

Too late to check it! Just came to Freemantle to have a look, but manana I must head to the wild north.

Did go to a great gig last night in SoCo Cargo, a wandering venue made of shipping containers that was set up next to metro for the Northbridge Festival. It was Vulgargrad, a Melbourne band similar to one of my favourites- Leningrad, a Russian Ska band, and they played some really good covers of a few Len tracks. Top night!
