Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Kyoto 2 nights enough?
Posted: Tue November 6, 2007 04:16 AM UTC
Hi,

I am sorry if I am asking the same questions like all others, but I would like to find out if 2 nights in Kyoto are sufficient.

We (2 of us) are coming from Tokyo, and hope to cover the usual touristic spots, Philosopher's Path (whatever that is; we will be reading more on it) and some off-the-beaten track to really immerse into the culture.

Can anyone recommend a cheap, traditional ryokan near to JR kyoto station? The ones found so far cost over 10,000Y for a double room.... We are looking for something cheaper.

Or is there B & B available?

Pls share other tips, recommendations for must-sees, must-dos in Kyoto!

Thanks lots, folks :)

can u m ake it 3 days, 2 days is too tight. We found 8k yen for double, without breakfast, but that was during low season, just 5 minutes from Kyoto JR station, 10,000 yen is quite fair esp during high season

hehe, i also spent 2 days at Kyoto! however i got infection on the 2nd day, so i spent one morning in the hospital!!

I arrived Kyoto on a Monday, I visited Kiyomizudera, Heian and Gion on Day 1.

Day 2 i went to the Fox temple Where Memoir of Geisha was shot. the name is call fukimiya emm.. somehting like tat, then i visited the golden pavilion. Then i wanted to go Ninjo Temple, but it's always close on Tuesday!! so pls don't make the same mistake lik me. I also failed to get into Imperial Palace, as i was Late :(

So i believe 2 days should be sufficient. Amanohashidate is another great place to go from Kyoto, but that will take one day's time.
